Sustainability in Practice

At CoCopac, sustainability means making informed choices about responsible sourcing, material use and end-of-life considerations. In food packaging, these choices must also support food safety, product protection and reliable performance, so we avoid treating any one material as the right answer for every application.

Responsible sourcing

We work with established material suppliers and can offer FSC®-certified options across eligible paper-based products and orders. We also support relevant due-diligence and traceability requirements, including EUDR requirements where they apply to the material and batch concerned.

Using the right amount of material

Because many of our products are converted to order, dimensions and formats can be developed around the food, tray or production process. Correctly specifying the size, absorbency and construction can help avoid unnecessary material while still providing the performance the application requires.

Considering paper-based alternatives

Paper-based, cellulose-based and reduced-plastic options are available across selected applications. Our team can help customers explore these alternatives where they provide suitable food-contact, moisture, barrier, release and handling performance.

Clear, product-specific guidance

Terms such as recyclable, compostable, biodegradable and plastic-free should only be used where they are supported by the exact product specification. The practical end-of-life route may also depend on food contamination and the recycling or waste facilities available locally.

We therefore assess sustainability alongside the complete application rather than making blanket claims. This helps customers choose a practical balance between responsible material use, food safety and packaging performance.
