Meat Pads

Meat Pads

CoCopac supplies absorbent meat pads for processors, packers, butchers and packaging distributors. Designed to manage purge within trays and packs, our pads are available in a wide range of absorbencies, dimensions, colours and constructions.

Rather than limiting customers to a small range of standard formats, we can develop the pad around the meat product, tray size, expected fluid level and presentation requirements. Existing samples or specifications can also be reviewed to help identify an appropriate alternative.

Meat pads made around your application

The correct meat pad needs to provide sufficient absorbency whilst maintaining packaging minimisation targets. We consider the expected purge, pack dimensions, product presentation and handling conditions before recommending a specification.

Absorbency matched to the pack

Absorbency should be selected around the expected volume and type of purge, as well as the available space within the tray. Selecting the right level helps reduce the risk of saturation and leakage without unnecessarily over-specifying the pad.

Bespoke sizes and colours

Pads can be converted to suit the dimensions and presentation of the pack rather than forcing the product around a standard size. A broad range of colours is available, including white, black, red, blue, green, yellow and silver.

Consistent, tested performance

Pad performance is tested using distilled water and different saline concentrations, helping our team understand how the material performs under different conditions. This supports more informed product selection and consistent repeat supply.

Example Meat Pad Applications

Our meat pads are used across a wide range of retail, processing and foodservice applications. The examples below illustrate some common uses, although dimensions, absorbency and appearance can be tailored to suit each individual pack.

Retail meat trays

Absorbent pads developed around the tray dimensions, expected purge and required retail presentation.

Burgers and patties

Bespoke pad formats for fresh or frozen burgers, including products packed for retail, catering and foodservice use.

Poultry packaging

Pads for chicken and other poultry applications, with absorbency, dimensions and colour selected around the particular pack.

Steaks, joints and portioned meat

Absorbent solutions for steaks, joints and portioned products where controlling purge and maintaining a clean pack presentation are important.

Butcher and distributor ranges

Reliable repeat supply for butcher sundries businesses and packaging distributors serving a broad range of end applications.

Meat Pad FAQs

Common questions about choosing the correct absorbency, size and format for a meat packaging application.

The right absorbency depends on the expected purge, the meat product, the size of the tray and the available space within the pack. A smaller pad with a higher absorbency may sometimes use less overall material than a larger, lower-absorbency pad. Our team can review the application and recommend a suitable starting specification.

Performance testing is carried out using distilled water and saline solutions at different concentrations. This helps assess how the absorbent material performs under a range of conditions, rather than relying on a single water-based measurement.

Yes. CoCopac can convert pads to suit the tray or product rather than limiting customers to a small selection of standard dimensions. Bespoke shapes, dimensions and other format requirements can be discussed with our team.

Meat pads are available in a broad range of colours, including white, black, red, blue, green, yellow and silver. Colour is usually selected to complement the product, tray and required pack presentation.

Pads are not normally selected solely by meat type. The correct specification depends more on expected purge, tray dimensions, storage conditions, presentation and packing process. Different colours may also be chosen to distinguish particular ranges or applications.

Yes. An existing sample or technical specification can help us assess the material, dimensions, construction and absorbency currently being used. We can then discuss a comparable option or whether a different specification may be more suitable.

Common signs include saturation, liquid remaining in the tray, leakage, poor fit or unnecessary material within the pack. Delamination or inconsistent construction may indicate a product quality issue rather than simply the wrong absorbency.

Yes. Samples and production trials can be discussed once we understand the application, required dimensions, absorbency and expected order volume. Where possible, providing an existing sample or specification will help the process.

This depends on the construction of the pad and how it has been used. Many higher-absorbency pads contain plastic-based superabsorbent material, and pads contaminated with meat fluids are not generally suitable for conventional paper recycling. Our team can discuss material reduction and alternative constructions where these are technically appropriate.
